Central Bank of India (CBI) has just recently issued recruitment notification for a total 500 positions of Probationary Officers (PO) and you can apply for these positions online till 5th June 2010. Click here to download this CBI PO recruitment notification 2010.
Through this blog post I intend to summarize the important information contained in the above notification, while the subsequent one would give you the study materials for this exam-CBI PO Exam pattern with sample papers and books.
But before embarking more on finding a CBI job, let us try to know about Central Bank of India as an organization.
What is Central Bank of India
Established in 1911, Central Bank of India was the first Indian commercial bank which was wholly owned and managed by Indians, with Sir Sorabji Pochkhanawala as the founder. It was nationalized in July 1969 along with 13 other banks.
Since from its inception, it has grown manifold and now has a country-wide network with 3413 branches and 237 extension counters in 27 out of 28 States and in 4 out of 7 Union Territories. With total customer base of over 25 million account holders, CBI is one of the largest in the Indian banking industry.
CBI PO vacancies:
As per the CBI recruitment notification there are 500 PO vacancies, with category-wise vacancies as below:
SC:75, ST:40, OBC:135, GEN:250.
CBI PO Salary:
Central Bank of India (CBI) is offering following pay-scale for the PO positions:
Rs.10,000-470/6-12820-500/3-14320-560/7-18240.
With above pay-scale, the salary would be Rs. 18,126/- per month approx in metros.
Eligibilities for these CBI positions:
For Probationary Officers:
Age Eligibility: Min: 21 Max: 30 as on 01.04.2010.
Academic Eligibility/Qualifications:
Graduation with min. 55% marks (50% marks for SC/ST/PWD candidates) from a recognized university + Basic knowledge of computer applications (certificate required from a Govt. recognized training institute).
Selection process for CBI positions:
Selection process would consist of Written test (Objective & Descriptive) followed by GD/Interview. Details of Central Bank of India exam pattern/selection post is being covered in a separate post, with study materials for the exam.
CBI PO Online forms:
How to apply for these CBI PO vacancies?
Well, you can apply only online.
But before going to apply online for CBI exam, at first you need to pay the CBI application fee – Rs. 300/= (Rs. 25/= for SC/ST/PWD candidates). How do you pay this?
Download this fee payment receipt and pay the fee in cash in any of the Core Banking Branch of Central Bank of India. To find the nearest such CBI branch, click here to download the list of Core Banking Branch of Central Bank of India. You need to retain the original fee payment receipt, as you have to produce the same along with your call letter while appearing for the PO written exam.
In addition to the fee payment receipt, you also need to have a valid e-mail id before applying online for the CBI PO recruitment, as you need to fill these details in the CBI PO Online Form.

CBI PO exam Call letter:
You are supposed to receive the call letter in your address given in the online form on or before 19th July, 2010. If you do not receive the call letters within this date, contact the person corresponding to the test centre opted by you, as given in section-"8. DETAILS OF WRITTEN TEST" of the CBI notification.
Duplicate CBI call letter would be issued from 19th July, 2010 to 24th July.
Important Dates for CBI PO exam:
Start Date For CBI PO Online Registration: 06.05.2010
Last Date For CBI PO Online Registration: 05.06.2010
Last date for receiving the CBI PO call letter:19th July, 2010
Date of issue of duplicate CBI call letter:19th July, 2010 to 24th July.
Date of Written Examination For Probationary Officers: 25.07.2010.
