Coal India MT Exam Pattern Sample Papers Books

Coal India recruitment for management trainees (MT) is round the corner – recently it published notification for 1080 MT for the recruitment session 2011. Once you make up your mind on joining Coal India as a management trainee, the next question that comes to your mind is how do you prepare for Coal India exam? Where to find those online sample/previous years paper and which books to study?

This is the subject matter of this blog article – trying to help you prepare for the written exam by pointing you to the sources of sample papers for Coal India exam as well as listing the books you can refer to.

But first, let us to do that by knowing what is the pattern of Coal India exam.

Coal India MT Exam Pattern:
Coal India, in its recruitment notification has not said much about the pattern of written exam except following:

There are going to be two Objective type papers: Paper-1 is an Aptitude paper, covering General Awareness & Aptitude. Paper-2 is a Technical paper, specific to your discipline. Both contain 100 questions of 100 marks and these 200 questions are to be answered in 3 hours.

Coal India has also specified the cut-off marks – the minimum qualifying marks for each category of applicant. You can find the same along with the distribution of marks paper-wise in following table:

Pattern of Coal India exam
Securing above qualifying mark does not mean that you are going to get the call letter for Coal India interview – you have to be among the top 3240 candidate in the written merit list. Why? Because there are 1080 management trainee vacancies and 3 times the vacancies would be short listed category-wise for the Coal India interview.

Is there negative marking in Coal India MT Exam? The notification does not says anything about it – you can find it only exactly in exam hall. But most of recruitment exams have negative marking – minus 1/4th mark for a wrong answer.
