Applications are invited from Indian citizens or such other nationalities as are declared eligible by the Government of India in prescribed proforma as given below for the Group ‘D’ Posts Recruitment Examination, 2009 to be conducted by the Public Service Commission, West Bengal for recruitment to the vacant posts of Peon, Orderly Peon, Night Guard, Darwan, Farash and such other nomenclature of posts in the West Bengal Secretariats, Directorates and in the Govt. offices of the districts under the rule making power of the Govt. of West Bengal. All
appointments will initially be made on a temporary basis. Number of vacancies available at present is as follows:

Pay Scale : (PB – 1) Rs.4,900 – 16,200/- + Gr. P Rs.1700/- . Besides Pay, Allowances as granted by the Govt. from time to time are also admissible.

QUALIFICATIONS :
(i) Candidates shall have Class – VIII pass certificate from a recognized school or recognized madrasah or any other recognized equivalent institution; (ii) The ability to read, write and speak in Bengali (not required for recruitment in the case of Nepali speaking candidates from hill areas of the District of Darjeeling).

AGE :
Not less than 18 years and not more than 37 years on the 1st January, 2009

FEE :
Candidates must enclose with their applications a fee of Rs.60/- (Rupees sixty) only in the form of Indian Postal Order which must be purchased on a date after publication of this advertisement and crossed and endorsed to THE SECRETARY, PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION, WEST BENGAL, and made payable at G.P.O, Kolkata or in the form of a receipted challan from a Government Treasury in West Bengal or the Reserve Bank of India, Kolkata under the head “0051-00-105-State PSC Examination fees-001-Examination fees-16 other fees”. Money Orders, Cheques, Bank Drafts, Cash etc. will not be accepted

Duly filled in application in the given proforma typed/printed on good-quality foolscap size (32 c.m. x 21 c.m.) white paper may be submitted personally strictly in open condition and not in closed cover at the enquiry counter of the Commission's office at 161-A, S.P. Mukherjee Road, Kolkata – 700 026, between 11:00 a.m. and 03:30 p.m. on all working days (Saturdays and Sundays are holidays) or sent by Registered Post or Under Certificate of Posting
addressed to the Deputy Secretary (Examination), Public Service Commission, West Bengal, at the above address superscribing on the envelope (i) Name of the examination (ii) Centre Code and (iii) Centre Name.
Applications must reach the office of the Commission within the closing date i.e. THE 14th October, 2009.
