Tuesday, November 23, 2010

CBSE just today announced the notification for CBSE AIPMT-2011 exam. You can find the important information on AIPMT 2011 in my previous blog post titled: CBSE AIPMT 2011 Exam Notification/Study materials

The focus of this blog post is on telling you what is the exam format of CBSE AIPMT-2011. Although this blog post is made for AIPMT-2011 exam, students who are going to appear in AIPMT-2012/2013 exam can also use it for reference purpose to know the exam pattern of CBSE AIPMT-2012/2013. There was a major change from AIPMT-2010 onwards: the CBSE PMT Final exam was also made Objective type. The AIPMT final was Descriptive type in previous years.

Schedule of CBSE AIPMT-2011 Exam:
CBSE PMT exam is held in two stages (Prelims & Final) with exam schedules as below:

Preliminary Examination - April 03, 2011 (Sunday): Objective type
The CBSE PMT Preliminary Examination consists of a single paper containing 200 objective type questions from Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology). This paper needs to be completed in 3 hours (10.00 AM to 1.00 PM).

Each answer has four answer options from which you need to choose the single correct answer and mark it in the machine-gradable answer sheet by darkening the circle for the option completely with a Ball Point Pen only.

You need to take care while darkening the circle for the correct option – the circle should be darkened completely. The answer sheet is evaluated through OCR (Optical Character Recognition) software and hence if the circle is not darkened properly, the answer would come as a blank answer to OCR! How to mark the answer correctly? Just see it from the picture at left, which shows wrong/right way of marking 8 questions.

Final Examination - May 15, 2011 (Sunday): Objective type
CBSE PMT Final Examination is held only for those people who qualify the Preliminary Examination. You can find whether you have qualified in the AIPMT prelims by seeing the AIPMT result in CBSE results website, around the second week of April.

The CBSE PMT Final Examination consists of a single paper containing 120 objective type questions from Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology). This paper needs to be completed in 3 hours (10.00 AM to 1.00 PM).
