Essential Qualifications for the posts at Serial Nos : 1-23, 30-35.

(1) Professor
An eminent scholar with published work of high quality, actively engaged in research with 10 years of experience of Post Graduate teaching and/or research at the University/National institutions, including experience of guiding research at Doctoral level.

OR

An outstanding scholar with established reputation who made significant contribution to knowledge.

(2) Associate Professor:
i.a good academic record with a doctoral degree or equivalent published
work. In addition to this, candidates from outside the University system shall be required to possess atleast 55% marks or grade B in the 7 point scale in the letter grade O,A,B,C,D,E,F at Master’s Degree level.
ii.5 (Five) years of teaching or Post doctoral experience and contribution to scholarship as evidenced by the quality of publications/educational innovation/design of new courses/curricula shall be part of essential qualifications.

(3) Assistant Professor:
i.a good academic record with at least 55% marks or grade-B in the 7 point scale of letter grade O,A,B,C,D,E,F at Master’s Degree level in the relevant subject from an Indian University established by law or an equivalent degree from a recognized Foreign University. ( A relaxation of 5% marks at Masters’ degree level shall be applicable to a candidate belonging to SC/ST /PH category).
ii.Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, a candidate for Assistant Professorship must clear NET/SLET in the relevant subject.
Provided, however, that candidates, who are or have been awarded Ph.D. degree in compliance with the University Grants Commission ( Minimum standards and procedure for award of Ph.D. Degree), Regulation 2009, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/SLET for recruitment and appointment to Assistant Professor. However, the University shall decide as to whether the degree of Ph.D awarded to the candidates is in compliance of the provisions of UGC regulation 2009, so as to exempt them from the requirement of minimum eligibility conditions of NET/SLET for recruitment and appointment to the post of Assistant Professor in the University.

Candidates who were duly appointed through a duly constituted Selection Committee before 19th September, 1991 and is still working may also apply.

OR

Candidates who have cleared JRF examination conducted by UGC/CSIR, only prior to 1989, securing 50% marks at Master’s Degree level may also apply.



The prescribed application form along with other details may be obtained from the Section Officer, Estt.II (B), NEHU, Mawkynroh-Umshing, Shillong- 793022 on payment of Rs. 20/- ( Rupees twenty) only in the form of Banker Cheque/Demand Draft or through University Challan drawn in favour of the Finance Officer, NEHU, Shillong and payable at the State Bank of India, NEHU Branch ( Code No. 4295) . The same can also be downloaded from the website www. nehu.ac.in for which fee of Rs. 120/- (one hundred twenty) for general candidates and Rs. 70/-(seventy) for SC/ST and OBC candidates is required to be paid along with the application form. Physically Challenged candidates are exempted from payment of any fees. Application forms may be collected personally or by sending self addressed stamped envelope
