Job Description : Senior Oracle Database Admin

Responsibilities:
• Installation, configuration and upgrading of database server software and related products
• Evaluate database features and related products
• Establish and maintain sound backup and recovery policies and procedures
• Database design and implementation
• Implement and maintain database security
• Perform database tuning and performance monitoring
• Setup and maintain documentation and standards
• Plan growth and changes (capacity planning)
• Work as part of a team and provide 7x24 support when required
• Perform general technical trouble shooting (Trouble ticket handling)
• Provide support to development teams (pre-launch review/tuning)
• Interface with Oracle Corporation for technical support.
• Client relationship management
• Project planning at both the technical and executive levels

Knowledge, skills and abilities
• Basic understanding of Relational Database Management Systems.
• Proficiency with the Oracle relational database.
• Familiarity with the UNIX operating system. Specifically Sun Solaris or Linux.

Nonessential skills
• Familiarity with the Windows NT family of operating systems. Specifically, NT4, 2000, and 2003 server.
• Shell scripting, Perl scripting
• Oracle skills: RMAN, export/import, hotbackups, RAC, materialized view replication, standbys, Dataguard/Databroker, versions 9i and 10g, high availability clustering, high-level performance tuning
• Oracle certifications: Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), Oracle Certified Master (OCM)
• Project planning experience
• Experience in a managed service provider (MSP)
• Experience working with off-site colleagues

Minimum qualifications
• At least 5+ experience with Oracle
• BA/BS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
